Centralia man crashes into cyclist

A 47-year-old Port Orchard man was hospitalized Saturday after he was struck by a car while riding a bicycle, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 7:40 p.m. Saturday, the Port Orchard man was westbound on state Route 16 at Mullinex Road in Kitsap County. A Centralia man, who was driving a 2011 Kia Optima, was merging onto state Route 16 from Mullinex Road. The cyclist allegedly turned in front of the Kia and was hit.

The Port Orchard man was later taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.

The incident is under investigation. Drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, according to the state patrol.
