Prescribed burns planned for Tuesday in Thurston County
The Center for Natural Lands Management planned to do prescribed ecological burns at the Glacial Heritage and Mima Mounds preserves southwest of Littlerock on Tuesday.
The burns are meant to control invasive shrubs and restore prairie habitat for the endangered Taylor’s checkerspot butterfly. They were scheduled to start at noon and last about one hour. Together they will cover about 32 acres.
