Panorama Republicans: Washington state Treasurer Duane Davidson will be guest speaker at the Panorama Republican meeting at 2 p.m. in the Quinault Auditorium on the Panorama Campus, 1751 Circle Lane, Lacey.

Friday & Saturday

A Christmas Carol on stage: The Charles Dickens classic will be presented by the Olympia Waldorf School's class of 2018, in collaboration with The Evergreen State College's "Arts and the Child" course. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen’s Experimental Theater in the Communications Building. Free and open to the public.


Olympia Choral Society holiday concert: The choir will present “The Best of Christmas Past: A 20th Anniversary Celebration” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Koval Center for the Performing Arts, 600 Sleater-Kinney Road NE, Lacey. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the North Thurston Education Foundation. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each performance. No reserved seating. Tumwater Christmas Tree Lighting Festival: The festival will run from 2-5 p.m. at the Tumwater Fire Station and City Hall on Israel Road. Enjoy community and school choir performances, decorate cookies and create ornaments, enter raffles, meet Miss Thurston County 2018 Ashley Engstrom, watch the ceremonial tree lighting, and greet Santa Claus, who will arrive on an antique fire truck. The Bridge Music Project with Tonks and the Aurors: The Lacey Timberland Library will host an evening of local hip-hop and Harry Potter tunes when the Bridge Music Project, a Thurston County youth hip-hop collective, and the wizard rock band Tonks and the Aurors join for a free, all-ages event from 7-9 p.m. The library is at 500 College St. SE, Lacey. Wrinkles of Washington: Wrinkles of Washington will perform its Christmas show, "Melodies & Mistletoe," at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Olympia Senior Center, 222 Columbia Street, NW. The performance is a fundraiser for Senior Services for South Sound. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the senior center, Yenney's Music Company, at the door at each performance, or by calling 360-459-0730.

Offut Lake Lighted Boat Parade: The parade at the south county lake begins at 5 p.m., and Santa and Mrs. Claus also will make an appearance. To rent a boat, call Becky at 360-264-2438. For more information, call Diane at 360-402-8613.

SOGO Brass Choir holiday show: Head to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1925 Boulevard Road SE, Olympia, at 2 p.m. for a holiday concert that also will feature Olympia Mayor Cheryl Selby narrating “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” and vocal soloists Anna Garret and Elliot Weeks. Tickets are $10 for adults and seniors, $5 for students, $25 for families, and are available at studentorchestras@gmail.com or by leaving a message at 360-352-1438.

Duck the Malls holiday bazaar: Local artisans and artists will be selling handcrafted items from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia. Admission is free.

Saturday & Sunday

Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour: It is stopping in Olympia for screenings at the Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE. The shows, hosted by The Olympia Mountaineers, will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday. Doors open one hour before showtime. Tickets are $15 general admission, or $26 for both nights. Discounts are available for the Sunday show ($12 for Mountaineers, military, students and Olympia Film Society members). Information: olympiafilmsociety.org
