President cites a Tenino family as a potential winner under GOP tax plan
A Thurston County family was among those invited to the White House on Wednesday for a tax speech by President Trump.
The Howard family from Tenino — or as Trump called it, “Ten-ee-no” — owns an espresso machine service company. The President said the GOP tax plan would wipe out their $2,500 tax bill and may even get them a refund.

When it came time for the Howards to take the podium (seen here at the 23-minute mark), Emily Howard said the family would use the money it saved in taxes to help their community.
The New York Times reported Wednesday that House and Senate Republicans had reached a deal on a consensus tax bill with the hopes of taking final votes next week. The plan slashes taxes for businesses while giving many Americans modest cuts, according to CBS News.
This would be Trump’s first major legislative accomplishment since taking office.
