Olympia bans smoking from all parks and trails
All parks and trails in Olympia will be smoke free when the new year begins, the city announced in a statement last week.
The ban will go into effect Jan. 1, and includes cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, e-cigarettes, and all other vaping devices, according to the release. Using chewing tobacco is allowed.
Smoking marijuana is illegal in all public places, including in parks and on trails, per Washington state law.
Signs outlining the ban will be put up in all parks. Citizens can report violations to the park ranger service at 360-570-3905.
