Thieves have struck this small business twice this week
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that was reported at 6:33 a.m. Friday at Remote Control Hobbies, said Sgt. Carla Carter.
Someone wearing a turquoise hooded jacket, a mask and baseball batting gloves threw a large rock through the front window of the shop at 7837 Martin Way E., Unit 101, Olympia, Carter said.
The suspect ran inside, took a $900 remote control car that was still in its box, and fled, Carter said.
The store owner told The Olympian that his shop, which opened about a decade ago, also was hit by a shoplifter earlier in the week.
At about 2:30 p.m. Monday, a man entered the shop and stole an Axial Deadbolt truck and left in a black minivan with a sport carrier on the roof, according to a post on the shop’s Facebook page. The shop included photos of the shoplifting suspect on its post.
In a poster about the shoplifting incident, the Sheriff’s Office described the vehicle as a late 1990s, two-toned Honda Odyssey with a hard luggage carrier on the roof.
Anyone with information on either case can report it to South Sound Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
