A Thurston County Sheriff’s deputy recovered an entire community mailbox Tuesday night off Johnson Road Southeast near Yelm Highway.

The box was reported online as stolen Monday night from a nearby community at Rehklau Road Southeast and Danico Lane Southeast near Lake St. Clair, according to Sgt. Carla Carter.

“Community members were notified and came to the scene to retrieve it,” stated a post on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. “Best crime prevention: knowing your neighbors and community and reporting the unusual and suspicious. TCSO relies on community. Together.”

No other information was immediately released.
