Herpetologist Dr. Marc Hayes, who also works with a local group called Stream Team, is set to present a free workshop on the ecology, habitat requirements and unique characteristics of local frog and salamander species next Saturday.

But first things first: What’s a herpetologist? A herpetologist is an expert on amphibians and reptiles.

The class is best suited for those 12 and older, according to a news release.

The workshop is set for 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Jan. 27 at the LOTT Wet Science Center, 500 Adams St. NE, Olympia.

To register, go to www.streamteam.info. For more information, send an email to Michelle Stevie, senior habitat biologist, at mstevie@ci.olympia.wa.us.
