Aberdeen Police are asking the public for help in identifying and locating a man who is a person of interest in one of their cases.

On Saturday, just before 11 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Aberdeen Fire Department’s administrative building, in the 700 block of West Market Street, for the report of a suspicious device in a storm drain.

“After visually inspecting the device, the Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad was summoned and responded for its safe removal and disposal,” Aberdeen Police Sgt. Steve Timmons wrote in a news release.

On Saturday evening, police released a photo of a person of interest in the case. The man was wearing a black hat and jacket, and was next to a green bicycle.

Timmons told The Olympian that investigators are looking at other surveillance images to get a full description. At this point, they believe he is a white man who is about 6 feet tall, and 200 pounds, Timmons said.

Anybody who recognizes the man, knows his whereabouts or has information on the case is asked to call the Aberdeen Police Department at 360-533-3180 or 360-533-8765.
