Threat at Shelton High School brings extra police to campus for the day
Shelton School District received a report of a threat of a possible school shooting on Monday at Shelton High School, but police determined it was not “viable,’ according to district spokeswoman Jacquie MacAlevy.
Still, extra precautions were taken.
“We have additional police presence on campus today throughout the day,” MacAlevy told The Olympian Monday morning.
“There is no imminent threat at this time,” stated a news release issued by the district at about 11:15 a.m. Monday. “The Shelton Police Department is investigating the threat and contacting involved parties. Again, there is no viable threat at this time.”
The rumor of a threat was sent through Snapchat on Sunday night, according to Andy Arnes, a spokesman for the city of Shelton.
“A person of interest related to a possible treat was contacted earlier today,” he told The Olympian on Monday afternoon. “However, no arrests have been made at this point.”
Anyone with information on the threats is asked to contact the Shelton Police Department at 360-426-4441.
