4 arrested after robbery in Olympia’s Yauger Park
Four men were arrested and booked into Thurston County Jail on suspicion of a robbery at Yauger Park about 8 p.m. Monday, according to Olympia Police Lt. Sam Costello.
It all started when four young men from Grays Harbor County met up with five young men from Lacey at the west side park, Costello said.
At some point, the Lacey men allegedly produced handguns and forced the Grays Harbor men to get out of their vehicle and get down on the ground, Costello said. The suspects took shoes, belts, wallets and cell phones from the victims, who were 16, 18, 19 and 20 years old.
“Everybody flees initially,” Costello said. “One of our officers stops the victims as they’re leaving.”
Lacey Police officers stopped the vehicle containing the Lacey men at 45th Avenue Southeast and College Street Southeast, Costello said.
Four of the suspects were detained. Two are 20, and the others are 19 and 22. Information on the fifth Lacey man was not immediately available, although it doesn’t appear that he was arrested or faces the same charge, Costello said.
