A 35-year-old Lacey man was among six people in five vehicles who got caught up in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 5 at the King County/Pierce County line Sunday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol:

About 4:50 a.m. Sunday, two vehicles were southbound I-5, including the driver who was thought to have triggered the multiple vehicle collision.

That driver has yet to be identified because the person fled the scene on foot after the crash.

The unidentified driver was southbound in a 2003 Audi when the Audi crashed into another southbound vehicle and forced it through the median and into northbound traffic. That triggered a three vehicle crash in the northbound lanes, which included the Lacey man in a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox.

Despite the number of vehicles and people involved, a 26-year-old Renton man suffered the only injury. He was taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

A section of northbound I-5 was closed for more than four hours on Sunday.
