Fire at Courtside Apartments caused by smoking materials, fire officials say
An early morning fire at the Courtside Apartments in west Olympia started with ashes from smoking materials, according to Olympia Fire Department.
Firefighters called to the 600 block of Courtside Street Southwest at 1:38 a.m. Monday found a two-story apartment building with smoke coming out a first-floor apartment. Everyone inside got out before firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported.
The fire was out by 2 a.m. Only the residents of the apartment where the fire started were displaced.
The fire department says the fire began inside the entry way of the apartment and set off the building’s fire alarm. It was confined to the room it started in, with damage estimated at $30,000 to the building and $10,000 to the contents of the apartment.
