Burglar breaks into a home and takes a bath, police say

A 24-year-old Centralia man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of second-degree burglary after police say he broke into a home and took a bath.

Centralia police say the man also was in possession of a substance police say tested positive for methamphetamine.

About 3:45 p.m. Sunday, the residents of a home in the 100 block of North Oak Street returned and heard noise upstairs. They also smelled smoke, but they don’t smoke, officer J. Mercer said Sunday.

After hearing the noise and smelling the smoke, the residents called police rather than investigate themselves, Mercer said.

Once police arrived, they found the man dressed, but wet.

“He drained the tub and came out semi-voluntarily,” Mercer said.
