Coroner identifies drivers killed in two-car crash on Rainier Road Monday

Both drivers died in a two-car crash on Rainier Road Southeast on Monday afternoon, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

They were identified Tuesday by the Thurston County Coroner as Andrew Abraham, 37, of Yelm and Shane VanCleave, 37, of Rainier.

About 2 p.m., deputies say a Ford Focus was headed south, speeding and passing traffic on the shoulder, when it crossed the double-yellow center line and crashed into a northbound Volkswagen Jetta near Spurgeon Creek Road Southeast.

Both drivers died at the scene. A female passenger in the Jetta was injured and taken to an area hospital.
