He fled, drove 100 miles per hour and crashed into a tree, troopers say

A 31-year-old Hoquiam man fled from a traffic stop and crashed into a tree Wednesday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.

He was injured in the crash and flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

About 2 p.m. Wednesday, troopers say the Hoquiam man was pulled over for driving with expired license tabs. They also learned that he had outstanding warrants, according to the State Patrol.

Troopers say the man fled east on U.S. 12, four miles east of Montesano, and reached a speed of 109 miles per hour before he drove off the road and struck a tree just east of the Monte Brady exit.

The incident is under investigation, according to the State Patrol.
