Man who died Saturday night in crash on US 12 identified

The man who died in a crash on US 12 over the weekend has been identified as Jessie J. Eichelberger, 38, of Oakville, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The State Patrol also released updated information about the crash.

About 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Eichelberger and his 38-year-old female passenger were in a 2002 Honda Civic headed east on U.S. 12 about three miles east of Oakville. Troopers say the Honda passed an uninvolved vehicle in the westbound lane, then returned to the eastbound lane. But once it returned to the eastbound lane, troopers say the Honda clipped another vehicle, which caused the Honda to crash head-on into a vehicle headed west.

A 26-year-old woman from Forks in the westbound vehicle and Eichelberger’s passenger were injured and flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

After the crash, the road was blocked for about six hours, according to the State Patrol. The incident is under investigation.
