Police searching for suspect following SWAT response in Lacey

Police in Lacey were still searching for the suspect in an assault Monday evening after surrounding her house for most of Monday afternoon.

About 1 p.m. Monday, Lacey police were called to the 6700 block of Steamer Drive Southeast for a report of an assault, possibly involving a firearm or ax, said Sgt. Jaime Newcomb.

A Thurston County SWAT team was dispatched because police thought the female suspect was inside. When the SWAT team finally went inside, the suspect was not there.

The male victim was able to get out of the house before that. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Investigators were still on scene about 5:30 p.m. but road closures were being lifted. Newcomb said officers will process the scene and continue searching for the woman.
