Candidate filing week starts Monday, kicking off 2019 election season

The 2019 election season begins Monday with the start of candidate filing week.

Local positions on the ballot this year include city council seats in Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, Tenino and Yelm; school boards seats for the Olympia, North Thurston, Tumwater and Yelm school districts; seats on various fire district commissions and the Port of Olympia commission.

Filing week runs May 13 to 17. Candidates may file in person, online or by mail. Mail filings must be received by 4:30 p.m. May 17.

The order of candidates listed on the ballot will be determined by random drawing after the filing deadline.

The primary is Aug. 6 and the general election is Nov. 5.
