Boy, 12, injured after he is run over by trailer at area tree farm

A 12-year-old boy was injured Saturday afternoon at an area Christmas tree farm after he tried to jump from one trailer to the next but fell in between and was run over, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

The boy’s mother, who reached out to a Facebook page called “Thurston County Scanner, News & Weather Blog,” said her son was discharged from Providence St. Peter Hospital Saturday night.

The boy has some “bumps, scrapes and bruises,” she said.

About 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sheriff’s deputies and Lacey Fire District 3 were dispatched to Hunter Family Farm on Yelm Highway.

A tractor had been pulling two trailers. The first trailer was for passengers, while the second trailer was for trees, Lt. Ray Brady said.

The boy was in the tree trailer when he tried to jump into the passenger trailer. He came up short and fell in between both of them, then was run over by a rear tire on the second trailer, Brady said.

After the incident, the boy had no obvious signs of injury, but was complaining of pain in his arm and on his side, he said.
