Thurston County drivers on 15th Avenue Northeast should expect delays after a semi-truck rolled off the road and into Woodland Creek Thursday afternoon, according to Lacey Fire District 3.

The incident, which was reported about 3:30 p.m., was in the area of 15th Avenue Northeast and Draham Street Northeast.

The driver was not injured, Lacey fire said via social media.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Lt. Ray Brady said the truck wasn’t carrying cargo and there were no obvious signs of a fuel leak. However, the state Department of Ecology was notified about the rollover crash because of the truck’s proximity to the creek, he said.

The driver was thought to be going too fast for a curve in the road, then likely over-corrected, Brady said.

The truck was still waiting to be towed about 5 p.m. Thursday as rush hour peaked.
