A mother, her son and an aunt were arrested Sunday after they staged a robbery at a convenience store in the 9300 block of Martin Way East, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
The mother was working as a clerk at the store and had a hand in setting up the robbery, Lt. Ray Brady said Sunday.
About noon Sunday, the 21-year-old son entered the store and presented an Air Soft-style gun and a note to the clerk, his mother, who then handed over the cash. He then jumped into a waiting vehicle being driven by his 37-year-old aunt.
Witnesses at the scene were able to describe the man, and one witness followed them and took down license plate information, Brady said.
Sheriff’s deputies and Lacey police later identified and stopped the vehicle in the 8500 block of Pacific Avenue Southeast. While law enforcement detained the driver, the son ran off into some nearby woods but was later caught.
All three, including the 38-year-old mother, were booked on suspicion of first-degree robbery while armed, Brady said.
