3 lanes of southbound I-5 in Olympia are blocked after crash

Update: Southbound I-5 lanes in Lacey were reopened to traffic about 5 p.m.

Update: Southbound I-5 lanes in Olympia were reopened to traffic about 4:35 p.m. Thursday.

Update: A second southbound I-5 collision has been reported near Marvin Road Northeast in Lacey, according to the state Department of Transportation. That crash happened at 3:45 p.m. and has blocked the two right lanes, WSDOT says.

Original post: Three lanes of southbound Interstate 5 in Olympia are blocked following a collision, according to the state Department of Transportation and Washington State Patrol.

The crash, which was reported at 2:16 p.m., is near milepost 107 and Boulevard Road Southeast.

The wreck involves 5-6 vehicles, including a semi-truck, Trooper Johnna Batiste said. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in the area, she said.

Lacey Fire District 3 says two people have been taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital.

Southbound traffic is backed up past Carpenter Road, according to WSDOT.
