Olympia man dies in single-car crash in Aberdeen
Police in Aberdeen say a 37-year-old Olympia man died in a singe-car crash there Thursday night.
The crash happened at about 8:45 p.m. in the parking lot of Robert Gray Elementary School. Police say the man was speeding east down Third Avenue in a 1993 Ford Taurus when he drove through a stop sign, into the parking lot and struck boulders that separate the entrance from a lower lot, launching the car into the air.
The man, who was the only person in the car, either jumped or was thrown from the car and ended up in the lower parking lot. The car continued east and hit a curb.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police say there was no evidence that alcohol or drugs were a factor.
As of Friday afternoon, the man’s name had not been released, according to the Grays Harbor County Coroner’s Office.
