Man who drove black Monte Carlo into Lacey woman arrested in California
A 23-year-old hit-and-run suspect who police believe intentionally drove into a Lacey woman has been arrested in California, a spokesman for Lacey police said Tuesday.
The man was taken into custody Monday night after he was chased down in his Chevy Monte Carlo by the California Highway Patrol in Yreka, just south of the Oregon border, said Sgt. Jaime Newcomb.
Two Lacey detectives will now go to California to retrieve the vehicle. The department also will begin working to have the suspect extradited to Washington, Newcomb said.
About 5 a.m. Dec. 11, Lacey police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Boone Street Southeast after a report of a disturbance. The residents of the home had a disagreement, leading them to ask a man in his 20s to leave.
Newcomb said he left the house and got into a black Monte Carlo, then drove recklessly in the area before driving onto the lawn and hitting the woman, Newcomb said.
She suffered a broken shoulder and ruptured ear drum, he said.
