Lewis County courthouse all clear following bomb threat

Workers were let back into the Lewis County Law and Justice Center in Chehalis on Wednesday afternoon following a bomb threat that forced an evacuation of the building that morning.

The threat was called into the prosecutor’s office, said Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Dispatch said it was reported at 10:17 a.m.

The Law and Justice Center on West Main Street, which also houses the county’s district and superior courts and the Sheriff’s Office, was evacuated along with other county offices in the area.

The county jail, also in the Law and Justice Center, was put on lockdown, Kimsey said.

Washington State Patrol’s bomb squad was called in to check for explosives and found none. An investigation into the threat continues.

Workers were let back in the buildings about 1:20 p.m., Kimsey said.
