Ugly Sweater Bingo: That sweater in the back of your drawer might win you a prize when Oly Bingo Night adopts an Ugly Sweater theme for its monthly gathering at the Olympia Senior Center, 222 Columbia St. SE. In addition to a costume contest, the event includes a full-service bar, Jello shots, 50/50 raffle and $5 themed dinner at 6 p.m. Games start at 7 p.m. Must be 21 or older. The Gabriela Joya Quartet performs a free concert: Internationally renowned flutist Gabriela Joya performs jazz-influenced traditional Cuban music in the season finale the 2019 “Fridays at the First” series of free noontime concerts. She will be joined by local musicians for the concert at First Christian Church of Olympia, 701 Franklin St. SE. The church library opens at 11:30 for complimentary coffee and cookies. Karen Fraser Woodland Trail Volunteer Work Party: From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., volunteers will grub out Himalayan blackberry roots and plant fruit-bearing trees and native shrubs. The group will meet near 3811 Pacific Ave. where the Woodland Trail meets the Chehalis Western Trail (known as Hub Junction). Park in the empty lot at 3811 Pacific Ave., Lacey. New Year’s Around the World: What are your New Year’s traditions? Create a passport, then travel around the world to discover cherished traditions in other countries at this event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the WET Science Center, 500 Adams St. NE, Olympia. Free.

Monday

Auditor’s Office to swear in newly elected officials: The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at the Minnaert Center for the Arts at South Puget Sound Community College, 2011 Mottman Road SW, Olympia. Sheriff John Snaza will deliver the Pledge of Allegiance, and Chief Justice Mary Fairhurst and State Rep. Laurie Dolan will address attendees. The public is invited to attend. The elected officials to be sworn in include: port commissioner, mayors and council members, school board directors, fire commissioners, parks and recreation commissioners, and cemetery commissioners.

Timberland Regional Library Board of Trustees special meeting: The Timberland Regional Library Board of Trustees will hold a special board meeting at noon at the Administrative Service Center in Tumwater to finalize levy rates and approve the 2020 budget. The agenda will be posted online one business day prior, and the public meeting can be viewed online at https://www.trl.org/board-trustees
