When you hear the term “peacemaker,” does a particular person come to mind? The Dispute Resolution Center of Thurston County is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Evan Ferber Peacemaker Leadership Award.

The annual award recognizes an individual who has “demonstrated extraordinary leadership in promoting peaceful dispute resolution and civility,” according to a press release from the resolution center. Emphasis is given to residents of Thurston and south Mason counties, says the nomination form available online.

The Dispute Resolution Center opened for services in 1991 and provides mediation and training services to Thurston County residents. It’s one of 21 dispute resolution centers that cover more than 94 percent of Washington’s population, according to the center’s website.

Established in 2010 in honor of Evan Ferber, founding executive director of the center, last year’s award was presented to the Rev. Carol McKinley. This year’s award will be presented at The Toast, an annual fundraiser hosted by the center, according to the release. The Toast is scheduled for April 5.

The nomination form consists of two questions and is available online at www.mediatethurston.org; instructions for submitting nominations are included on the form. Nominations are due Feb. 21.
