Suspected gunshots near Martin Way were actually fireworks, police say

Police say reports of possible gunshots near the Olympia-Lacey border Thursday night that brought out several police cruisers turned out to be fireworks.

Olympia and Lacey officers responded to the area of College Street Northeast and Martin Way East about 8:30 p.m. after getting reports of loud bangs that sounded like gunshots, according to Lt. Paul Lower with Olympia Police Department.

Police talked to a witness who said it was fireworks and later located fireworks debris, Lower said.

No arrests were made. About half a dozen officers responded.
