Armed robbery, attempted armed robbery in west Olympia might be linked, police say

An armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery in west Olympia Monday evening might have involved the same suspects, according to Olympia police.

According to Lt. Paul Lower:

About 6:25 p.m. a 14-year-old boy was walking in the area of Limited Lane Northwest at Kenyon Street Northwest. He saw a gray sedan pull out of a nearby apartment complex and drive alongside him. The vehicle stopped and a man got out. He approached the teen, punched him and knocked him to the ground. The suspect pointed a gun at the teen and demanded that he empty his pockets then took his personal property.

The teen said he thought there were two men in the vehicle, Lower said.

About 30 minutes later, a woman was driving near 12th Avenue Southwest at Decatur Street. She pulled over to talk on the phone when suddenly her car door was opened and a man pointed a gun at her. She screamed and he ran off. The woman said she had pulled over in front of a gray sedan.

One of the suspects was wearing a ski mask and a dark hoodie and holding a dark-colored handgun, Lower said. The gray sedan, possibly a Toyota, was thought to be dented, he said.

Anyone with information about the two incidents is asked to call Olympia police at 360-753-8300.
