Amtrak trains were halted between Portland and Seattle Tuesday evening following a landslide blocking tracks between Tacoma and Lacey, Amtrak wrote on Twitter Tuesday evening.

In the meantime, chartered and scheduled buses will substitute for passenger trains, according to an announcement on Amtrak’s website. The agency wrote that chartered and scheduled buses will substitute until Thursday morning, but did not specify when the tracks will reopen.

The National Weather Service Forecast Office for Seattle/Tacoma showed an increased landslide threat for Western Washington through Wednesday morning.

The Olympian was unable to immediately reach Amtrak for further information.

Announcements are posted at Amtrak.com/alerts, and refund information for those with planned travel is available online at Amtrak.com.
