Providence St. Peter Hospital and its joint venture partner have proposed a second Lacey location for Olympia Behavioral Health, an 85-bed mental health hospital, according to a legal notice published in The Olympian.
Providence and Fairfax Behavioral Health first proposed the hospital in 2016 at 3000 Marvin Road N.E.
Now, the two partners are also considering a second location on three parcels at the southwest corner of Hawks Prairie Road Northeast and Marvin Road Northeast, the legal notice shows.
As part of the development process, the partners may submit an application for a conditional use permit to the city of Lacey in 90 days. Lacey requires the permit because the proposal is what the city calls a “type two essential public facility.”
The joint venture partners pitched Olympia Behavioral Health, which will provide mental health services to children, adolescents and adults, after US HealthVest had announced plans for South Sound Behavioral Hospital. South Sound Behavioral has since opened at 605 Woodland Square Loop SE.
Providence has also scheduled an informational meeting for the public about the project. That meeting is set for 6-8 p.m. Jan. 23 at Providence St. Peter Hospital, Room 200, 413 Lilly Road N.E., Olympia. The hospital, too, is accepting written comments about the proposal.
