Presentation on homelessness by Quality of Life Reno: QOL-Reno was formed to address growing issues around homelessness in their Nevada city. At 7 p.m. at Jefferson Middle School, 2200 Conger Ave NW, Olympia, representatives from that organization will give a public presentation on the progress they are making, the revelations they are having, and the similarities between the issues in Reno and Olympia. City of Lacey ADU workshop: Lacey residents are invited to a free Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) workshop from 10 a.m. to noon at Lacey City Hall Council Chambers, 420 College St. SE. Attendees will learn about Lacey’s new pre-approved, customizable ADU plans, available to residents at no charge. The workshop will include a series of short presentations, followed by the opportunity to talk to subject matter experts one-on-one. AAA Cruise Show: AAA Travel is offering free presentations, travel tips and special booking benefits at its 2020 AAA Cruise Show at the Capital Event Center, 6005 Tyee Drive SW, Tumwater. The show is for those new to cruising or exploring options for their next vacation Admission is free; members and non-members are welcome. Attendees will have access to special on-board benefits for select sailings and a 15% off discount for all travel gear, accessories and luggage. Interviewing candidates for Shelton City Council: The council will meet at 6 p.m. in the Civic Center, 525 W Cota St, Shelton, to interview candidates for the council vacancy.
Thurston Chamber’s Education Summit & Expo: Angela Jones, Chief Executive Officer at the Seattle-based nonprofit Washington STEM, will keynote the summit, which will run from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Saint Martin’s Norman Worthington Center in Lacey. Cancer Wellness Workshop: Mason General Hospital with the Karen Hilburn Cancer Fund and Harmony Hill Retreat Center offer a Cancer Wellness workshop for patients and caregivers. This support group will meet from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the Pershing Room of Mason General Hospital, 901 Mountain View Drive, Shelton. This workshop typically meets every second Wednesday of the month. Madison Scenic Park Volunteer Work Party: From 9:30 a.m. to noon, volunteers and city staff will remove English ivy, Himalayan blackberry, and other non-native plants. Sturdy work boots/shoes a must.
