Megan Fiess will fill a vacant seat on the Shelton City Council, the city announced Wednesday.

The position was left open when former Mayor Bob Rogers resigned last month, citing a need to support his family after his son was injured in an accident. The council then elected member Kevin Dorcy to serve as mayor.

City Council interviewed six people who applied for the open council seat, according to a news release, before selecting Fiess, who will be sworn in at the City Council’s meeting on Feb. 18.

Fiess is Workforce Division Project Manager for the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce and has previously worked for the Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council, Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee, and state Department of Natural Resources, according to the news release.

Applicant interviews were recorded and can be watched online on the MasonWebTV Youtube channel.

“I’m really excited to learn more about how I can bring value to the Council and our city,” Fiess said in the news release.
