Three-car crash on Delphi Road Tuesday sent four to hospital
A three-car crash in Thurston County Tuesday afternoon sent four people to the hospital and shut down Delphi Road Southwest for two hours, Thurston County Sheriff’s Office says.
The Sheriff’s Office believes the 17-year-old driver of a Honda CR-V caused the crash by crossing over the center line in the 8000 block of Delphi Road about 3 p.m. Tuesday. The two other vehicles involved, according to Lt. Ray Brady, were a Kia and a Saturn.
Photos from the Sheriff’s Office show the Honda landed on its roof, the Saturn ended on its side, and the Kia came to rest upright in a ditch. The three drivers — the 17-year-old boy, a 42-year-old woman, and a 55-year-old woman — and one 5-year-old boy passenger were transported to area hospitals, Brady said.
None of the injuries were life-threatening, according to McLane Black Lake Fire Department spokesperson Davie Kindell. Kindell called the outcome a “testament to their seat belts.”
Had they not been wearing their seat belts, she said, the results could have been “very different.”
Delphi Road was shut down in both directions for two hours, according to Brady. West Thurston Fire also assisted in the response.
Editor’s note: This story originally listed the injured passenger’s age as 15 years old. The Olympian has since confirmed with the Sheriff’s Office that its report had two ages listed, and the passenger is 5 years old.
