Lacey police warned residents not to become alarmed if they hear an explosion-like sound on Sunday, the department announced on its Facebook page.

Why? Police will be training in the Hawks Prairie business area, south of I-5, until 2 p.m., Sgt. Shannon Barnes said.

“A variety of devices will be used that have loud ‘explosion-like’ sounds,” the Facebook post reads. “We are asking the public not to call 911 if they hear these sounds.”

Barnes added that the type of devices they are training with are typically used to make entry into a suspect’s home.
