Thurston County Mainstream Republicans courthouse proposition presentation: The Thurston County Board of Commissioners voted 2-1 to place Proposition 1 on the ballot on April 28, 2020. The proposition is to authorize the County Commission to increase its regular property tax levy beginning in 2021. The purpose for the funds is to: construct a new county courthouse; construct new administrative buildings for general government purposes; construct a new parking structure; and construct improvements for the consolidation of county offices that will not be at the new county courthouse or new administrative offices. Olympia Mayor Cheryl Selby and Thurston County Commission Chair John Hutchings will present the proponents’ case at the membership meeting from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the River’s Edge restaurant at Tumwater Valley Golf Club: 4611 Tumwater Valley Drive. Aviation/Airline Collectibles Show and Sale: The Olympic Flight Museum will host its second collectibles show and sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be aviation parts, airline uniforms, pilot insignia, models, and aviation accessories. Tables are available for vendors for only $25 each. No reservation required for tables, first come, first served. General admission is $8 per person. Museum members and children 6 and under are free. Free stormwater workshop for HOAs, residents and property managers: Do you have a stormwater pond in your neighborhood but you’re not sure how to maintain it? Learn how to budget for and meet annual requirements for neighborhood stormwater ponds at this workshop from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Building 35, Room 251, at South Puget Sound Community College, 2011 Mottman Road SW, Olympia.The workshop is co-hosted by Thurston County and the cities of Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater. The workshop includes on-site and hands-on field visits to stormwater ponds and other drainage systems for question-and-answer sessions. Coffee and snacks provided.
