Rochester man is killed in crash on US 12 in Thurston County

A Rochester man died Monday night in a crash in south Thurston County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 9:15 p.m., the 67-year-old man was headed south on Moon Road Southwest. Troopers say the man then turned left onto eastbound U.S. 12, while a second vehicle was headed west on the same highway.

Troopers say the second vehicle crashed into the driver’s side of the 67-year-old man’s car. He died at the scene, according to the State Patrol. The crash is under investigation.

The 52-year-old Oakville man driving the second vehicle was injured and taken to Providence Centralia Hospital.

U.S. 12 was blocked for more than three hours Monday night, according to the State Patrol.
