Providence restricts visitors to 2 per patient; Community Care Center day room set to close

Providence St. Peter and Centralia hospitals are now limiting visitors to two per patient because of coronavirus concerns, Providence Health & Services, Southwest Washington, announced.

“This new policy will be effective until further notice,” hospital officials said in a release. “We are monitoring this matter closely and will make adjustments as necessary.”

In a related move, Providence also announced that it will close the day room and outdoor space of downtown Olympia’s Community Care Center, beginning March 17.

The Community Care Center is on State Avenue, across from the Intercity Transit Center.

Providence will continue to offer mental health and medication services downtown, but will screen patients at the door for an appointment. However, hospital officials added that the center is not actively testing for COVID-19.

“If a guest presents who does have symptoms, we are partnering with Thurston County Public Health to put a plan in place to help meet the need for testing homeless in our community.”

Those who have an appointment at a Providence Medical Group clinic can expect to receive a call from medical staff who will ask screening questions prior to their appointment. The medical group call center can be reached at 855-776-4636.

Hospital visitors with respiratory conditions or fever will not be allowed.

Visitors must be immediate family.

Visitors must be 18 or older.

All public meetings and gatherings at Providence facilities have been canceled.
