Suspicious fire destroys vacant building in northeast Lacey

A fire destroyed a vacant building in northeast Lacey over the weekend.

About 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Lacey Fire District 3 and other area fire districts were dispatched to the 5000 block of 15th Avenue Northeast.

Lacey Battalion Chief Pat Harn described the structure as a large house that had been divided into separate living quarters.

Lacey fire and police are investigating the fire as suspicious, he said.

Two weeks ago, Lacey fire responded to the same address to extinguish a fire set in a detached garage, possibly by someone trying to keep warm, Harn said.

Olympia Fire Department, South Bay Fire District 8 and East Olympia Fire District 6 also responded to the blaze.
