Business resources will be topic of Olympia virtual town hall meeting on Wednesday
The Olympia City Council is offering its second virtual town hall meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 on “Financial Resources for Local Businesses.”
It is part of a limited series of virtual town hall meetings focused on the resources available to members of the community during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Wednesday’s meeting will be convened by the City Council’s Finance Committee. The moderated panel includes Mike Reid, City of Olympia economic development director; Kaylee Purcell, director for the Center for Business and Innovation; Steve Ruggles from the Washington State Employment Security Department; and John Morosco, certified business advisor for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
Topics to be covered include:
- What programs passed in the Federal Stimulus package can assist small businesses.
- What kind of information will businesses need to have to qualify for federal assistance.
- What are some non-traditional approaches other businesses are using to stay afloat.
- What are some approaches to address cash flow issues that other businesses are using.

The Council’s General Government Committee will convene a town hall on “COVID-19 and Housing/Homeless Services” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, and the Land Use and Environment Committee will convene “Rental/Housing/Mortgage Relief and Resources” on Wednesday, April 29.
