Thurston County COVID-19 cases grow by 1 to 82
Thurston County COVID-19 cases grew to 82 on Wednesday after a woman in her 40s was identified as the latest confirmed case by public health officials.
It was only the second case announced this week by Thurston County Public Health and Social Services.
The county still has only one death tied to the respiratory illness, and the number of people who have either recovered or are recovering from the disease rose to 75 Wednesday from 72 on Tuesday.
In a letter to the community Tuesday, Thurston County Acting Health Officer Dr. Diana Yu wrote that in recent cases, people are identifying fewer contacts because of social distancing and staying home, The Olympian reported.
Positive cases have only been identified by gender and age, but the county took a big step in its transparency on Wednesday when it released a report showing cases by zip code — information residents have requested since the beginning of the outbreak. The data show that the Lacey area has seen the highest number of confirmed cases.
Elsewhere, confirmed cases of the disease continued to rise.
