Thurston County COVID-19 cases rise to 86 with announcement of 4 more Thursday
Thurston County announced four new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday: a man and woman in their 50s, a woman in her 30s and a woman in her 20s. The county now has had 86 cases since public health officials began tracking the data the week of March 9.
Even with the four additional cases, the number of cases has tumbled since a peak of 31 cases the week of March 30. The following week they fell to 13, followed by six cases so far this week. The number of people either recovered or recovering rose to 76 on Thursday from 75 on Wednesday, the data show.
Providence Medical Group announced Wednesday it will now provide swab collection for anyone with symptoms of the illness at its drive-thru testing site in Lacey. Previously, they limited testing to essential employees.
A person is eligible if they have any of the following symptoms: a fever; new cough, congestion, or shortness of breath; and/or a sudden loss of taste or smell, Providence officials said in a news release.
