Missing man walked away from care facility, Lacey Police say
Lacey Police want the public’s help finding a man who walked away from a care facility Tuesday morning and was still missing Wednesday.
Robert D. Malave-Aponte left the facility on 15th Avenue Southeast between 7 and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the missing person flier the department posted on social media.
Malave-Aponte, 53, does not have family or friends in the area or a cell phone, according to the post, and needs medication regularly. He’s free to come and go from the facility, Det. Julie Mullen told The Olympian, though it isn’t encouraged and it’s expected he won’t leave alone and that he’ll return.
He’s left the facility before, in Oct. 2019, and was found at the downtown Olympia Union Gospel Mission, according to the department’s flier.
The flier describes him as white with salt-and-pepper hair, 5-foot-8, and 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes, and a blue hooded jacket.
Police ask anyone with information about his whereabouts to call the department at 360-459-4333 or Crime Stoppers of South Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS.
