Thurston County Food Bank opens drive-up site at Evergreen

The Thurston County Food Bank has opened a drive-up distribution site at The Evergreen State College.

The site opened May 5 and served more than 90 people. It will operate 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every other Tuesday from May 19 through July 28.

The drive-up location is in parking lot C at the college, 2700 Evergreen Parkway NW.

The new location is a collaboration between the food bank, Thurston County Emergency Management and the college.

“Our aim is to support all our community members through this pandemic, recognizing that tribal nations, communities of color, people with disabilities, those without shelter, or experiencing job or food insecurity have been hardest hit by the impacts of COVID-19 and resultant economic hardship,” said Therese Saliba, Evergreen interim vice president for inclusive excellence, in a statement.

Evergreen’s Student Union also has plans to deliver food to students who are unable to use the drive-up.
