Those who like to walk around Capitol Lake will only get so far this week, according to the state Department of Enterprise Services, which manages the property.

That’s because the Marathon Park pedestrian bridge, which crosses the south side of the lake, will close so that sewage pipes that run under the bridge can be repaired.

The bridge will be closed from 6 a.m. Monday through the end of the day on Friday.

Why does the bridge have to close if the pipes run under it? The project requires removing the bridge decking to access the pipe from above as well as a boat to access the pipe from below, according to Enterprise Services.
