One suspect is in custody, but a second suspect was at large Tuesday after two men attempted to pry open a bank ATM in Shelton early that day, according to police.

About 3 a.m., police were dispatched to the Columbia Bank branch in the 2300 block of Olympic Highway North. By the time police arrived, the suspects had fled.

A K9 found a 44-year-old Mason County resident who was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery. The Washington State Patrol also was called to the scene because a bomb was found in the suspect’s backpack.

A second suspect is still at large, police say.

He is described as a white man, 5-foot-10, who weighs 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing green camouflage pants, blue/black Under Armour athletic shoes, and a dark jacket with a hood. Anyone with information is asked to call Shelton police at 360-426-4441.
