Two people suffered burns and a garage was damaged by fire early Tuesday morning, according to Lacey Fire District 3.

Crews were dispatched about 1:30 a.m. to the 4300 block of Cedar Court Southeast, where they found a fire contained to a garage.

A man and a woman were taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital for their injuries, Chief Steve Brooks said. The man was more seriously burned than the woman, he said.

Lacey police also were called to the scene, and now detectives are trying to determine what happened before the fire, Sgt. Shannon Barnes said.

Barnes said the two attempted to put out the fire.

The woman has been released from the hospital, she said, but detectives are still waiting to interview the man.
