Tumwater cancels all community Fourth of July events
Tumwater’s Fourth of July parade, fireworks and other festivities have been canceled for 2020, the city announced Friday.
The city’s traditional events include the Independence Day Parade, Fairways & Fireworks Fore on the 4th Fun Run, Tumwater Artesian Family Festival, and Thunder Valley Fireworks Show.
“The city will be with you in spirit on the Fourth of July as we remember our Independence Day,” the city’s news release said.
Tumwater’s decision mirrors those made by many other summertime community event sponsors in South Sound. Other gatherings that have been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak include the Harbor Days festival and tugboat races usually held over Labor Day weekend and Olympia Downtown Association’s Music in the Park concert series in July and August.
