3-car crash in south Thurston County Tuesday sends 4 to hospital

A three-car crash in Thurston County Tuesday evening sent four people to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the West Thurston Regional Fire Authority.

Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, the driver of a 2001 Mazda Miata was heading south on Case Road Southwest and failed to stop at a stop sign at the road’s intersection with Maytown Road, Thurston County Sheriff’s Lt. Ray Brady told The Olympian.

The car struck a 2014 Ford Escape that was westbound on Maytown Road, causing that vehicle to spin, Brady said. The Escape was then struck again, by a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee driving east on Maytown Road.

All three vehicles were towed from the scene, Brady said

The 23-year-old Olympia man who was driving the Mazda was cited for running the stop sign. There was no indication of impairment or high speeds, according to Brady.

The three drivers and one passenger were transported by ambulance to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, according to Capt. Lynette Dyer with the West Thurston Regional Fire Authority.
